In the latest edition of Foundations, the magazine of the LafargeHolcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction, Board member Simon Upton looks back on 13 years of change in sustainable construction and the catalytic role of the Foundation. Since its inception, the Board of the LafargeHolcim Foundation has greatly benefited from the membership of Rt Hon Simon Upton. He is now stepping down – mainly because he wants to focus on his new role as Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment in New Zealand.
Foundations 21 also features the most exciting moments of the five regional LafargeHolcim Awards ceremonies where a total of 60 trophies were handed over to prize-winners in Nairobi, Kenya (for region Middle East Africa); Marseille, France (for Europe), San José, Costa Rica (for Latin America); Chicago, USA (for North America); and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (for Asia Pacific).
One sign of a successful LafargeHolcim Awards ceremony is when no one in the audience realizes how much work goes on behind the scenes. Freelance director of the Awards ceremonies and (video) journalist for the Foundation, Marius Leutenegger, describes his experiences from the Regional Awards 2017.
