Emerging ChangeMakers (ECM)
ECM Retreat | Zurich
Held November 30/December 6, 2025 — Created space for reflection on leadership, interdependence, and strategic foresight. The retreat brought emerging changemakers together to step back from day-to-day pressures and explore how collective action can drive long-term systems change.

Designing Incentives for Change | Europe - Brussels
Held September 1–12, 2025 — Explored strategies for renovating Europe’s built environment toward sustainable development. The two-week intensive with ETH Zurich fostered open dialogue, exploration, and reflection to generate scalable outcomes.

Innovating Tomorrow’s Resilience | Europe - London
Held July/August 2025 — Bridged education and practice in sustainable construction. The two-week intensive at University College London encouraged collaboration, exploration, and reflection to develop innovative strategies for tomorrow’s resilience.

Unearthing Futures | Latin America
Held January 13–24, 2025 — Brought together Fellows from across Latin America to address regional challenges in sustainable urban development. The two-week program at UNAM fostered collaboration with experts, academics, and industry leaders to envision resilient futures.

Decarbonization at Scale | North America
Held August 5–16, 2024 — Launched the inaugural Holcim Foundation Fellowship, uniting students and professionals across North America. The two-week program in New York City focused on advancing sustainable design and construction at scale.
Fellowship Objectives
- Expose current and recently graduated master’s students to realities of practice on building sites and the end-user’s experience – bridging the gaps between academia, the profession and society.
- Foster the adoption of a humble posture of learning among professionals and students as a way to close the knowledge and execution gap.
- Empower students by equipping them with the skills required to succeed as catalysts for industry transformation in their studies and future careers.
- Support career development, continued learning, mentorship, and collaboration through future participation in Holcim Foundation international programs, events, and networking opportunities.
