Since then, more than 150 projects have been recognized through the Holcim Awards competition, more than 1,000 people have attended Holcim Forum symposiums, and a wide array of generalist and technical publications have been created: all firmly focused on bringing sustainable construction to reality.
A special meeting of the Board and the Academic Committee of the Holcim Foundation in Basel followed by public presentations by two former Holcim Awards winners marked the occasion. In addition, about 100 employees and suppliers of the Foundation gathered in Zurich for a dinner event, balancing the “triple bottom line” of food, drink and entertainment. Attendees included the Holcim Foundation office team members since 2003, professionals supporting the activities of the Foundation over the past decade, such as designers, writers, photographers, printers, publishers, and specialists in competition management, web design and social media, as well as the members of the communications department of Holcim Ltd.
A Zurich-based theatre company performed “Theatre of Sustainability”, piece written and directed by Marius Leutenegger to commemorate the Anniversary of the Holcim Foundation, showing the precondition of an audience to ensure a theatre’s survival. Similarly, the Holcim Foundation owes its vitality to both its large support team who celebrated the event, but also the thousands of engaged architects, engineers, planners, developers, and other individuals who have become part of its activities and message.
