Chris Allen

Chris Allen is Global Principal at Jacobs based in San Francisco, CA, USA where he works with technical teams to develop innovative regenerative and nature-based solutions for clients in infrastructure and the built environment. He has more than thirty years’ experience providing strategy and management services to private sector, public agency, and nonprofit clients. He works collaboratively with partners and clients to co-create and align innovative technologies, practices, and business models to deliver economic, environmental, and social benefits through high-performance sustainable/regenerative solutions.

Chris Allen has designed, developed, and managed projects for a variety of private sector clients as well as the US Department of Energy, the National Center for Appropriate Technology, the Northwest Area Foundation, and the United Nations Man and Biosphere Program.

His international experience includes work and studies in Europe, Southeast Asia, and Mexico. He serves on the Board of Directors of A World Institute for Sustainable Humanity. An early innovator in biomimicry, Chris worked directly with the non-profit Biomimicry Institute, “promoting the transfer of ideas, designs, and strategies from biology to sustainable design systems,” and from 2010 to 2014, served as CEO of Biomimicry 3.8, a strategic consultancy and Jacobs partner, promoting sustainable engineering solutions.

Chris Allen holds a BBA in International Business from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Certified Biomimicry Professional. He is a member of the International Living Future Institute, the World Ocean Council, the Society for Ecological Restoration, and the Biomimicry Professional Network.
