Chris Wise is known for his ability to add value throughout the lifecycle of a project. He is particularly valued at the concept stage, where he can understand and challenge the brief, get to the heart of the problem, and reach a flawless outcome for clients. With excellent leadership skills, bold ideas, and warm nature it is clear to see why he is a highly sought after engineer.

He has been involved in projects including Shakespeare’s New Place, visitor interpretation design on the site of Shakespeare’s home in Stratford, United Kingdom (2014-17); Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) Athens Opera House & Library, Greece (2010-16), in collaboration with Renzo Piano and his team (led by Giorgio Bianchi), Arup on environmental design (led by Alistair Guthrie), and Faithful and Gould (project management); and the 2012 Olympic Velodrome, London (2009-12), winner of the IStructE Supreme Award for engineering excellence.

He is driven to use his influence to help ensure a positive impact on the planet and reduce errors in the industry. He publishes articles and holds leading roles within industry initiatives Get It Right, MaGic, and MEICON. He is also an elected member, Smeatonian Society of Civil Engineers, Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, and Honorary Fellow of RIBA.

He has spent time as a Professor of Design at Imperial, Yale, and UCL where he was able to share his knowledge with the next generation of engineers. He is an industry leader, recognised as one of the most inventive structural engineers of his generation, and is currently researching how to embed Regenerative Design across the Faculty of Design and Engineering undergraduate engineering education at the University of Bath, and sits on the 1851 Royal Commission as co-chair of the SouthKenZen zero emissions neighbourhood (an area including all the museums, Imperial, and Albert Hall).
