CZA Cino Zucchi Architetti is one of the leading European studios in the fields of architecture, landscape and urban design, is constantly searching new spatial solutions in the diverse and layered character of contemporary human territories. Notable projects include the ex-Junghans factory site in Venice, the ex-Alfa Romeo-Portello Nord area and of the Corte Verde in Milan, the Keski Pasila master plan in Helsinki, the Car Museum and Lavazza Headquarters in Turin, and the Salewa Headquarters in Bolzano, Italy.
He was previously John T Dunlop Visiting Professor in Housing & Urbanization at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University, and has also been visiting professor at Syracuse University in Florence, ETH Zurich, and the Universidad Politécnica in Madrid.
Cino Zucchi is a member of international research teams such as the ARE_Living on housing innovation and was president of the Jury of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award (2015).
His essays and writings on urban design, history and theory of architecture have been published in Domus, Casabella, Abitare, San Rocco, Qa (where he was editor 1989-95) and Lotus International (where he was a member of the forum 1996-2013).
He is the author of L’architettura dei cortili milanesi 1535-1706 (Electa, 1989), Asnago e Vender: Architetture e progetti 1925-1970 (Skira, 1999), Cino Zucchi. Inspiration and Process in Architecture (Moleskine, 2012); and editor of Bau-Kunst-Bau (Clean, 1994), Innesti/Grafting (Marsilio, 2014), Sempering. Process and pattern in architecture and design (Silvana, 2016) and Everyday Wonders. Luigi Caccia Dominioni and the corso Italia complex (Corraini Edizioni, 2018).
He has participated in organization of the XV, XVI, XVIII, XIX and XXI Triennale di Milano, and was part of the scientific committee of the XXI Triennale, of MAXXI in Rome. He was curator of the Italian Pavilion with Innesti/Grafting of the 14th Biennale di Architettura di Venezia (2014). His work was exhibited at the 6th, 8th, 12th, 13th and 16th Biennale di Architettura di Venezia, where the installation Copycat: Empathy and Envy as Form-makers (2012) was awarded a special mention by the Jury (2012).
Cino Zucchi studied art and design at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, and obtained a PhD in Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano.
