Since joining Arup in 2014, Federico Torres has played a pivotal role in key transportation and infrastructure projects across Colombia and Latin America. His international experience spans pivotal managerial and consulting positions, including substantial contributions to projects such as the UK’s Intercity Express Programme and the design optimization of Medellín’s new Light Rapid Transit (LRT) system in Colombia. His collaboration with the World Bank on the Resilience in the Design of Primary Road project stands as a testament to his commitment to integrating climate-related disaster risk analysis and resilient designs into Colombia’s road infrastructure projects.

As a transportation expert, he is committed to ensuring sustainable outcomes for his clients and collaborators. He served as Arup’s Project Director on a study to scale e-mobility in Bucaramanga, Cali, and Pereira, providing guidance on technical, financial, and legal considerations that allowed for a successful integration of e-buses into daily operations.

Being a part of the jury panel for this year’s Holcim Foundation Awards is a distinguished privilege, and I look forward to contributing to the advancement of sustainable construction and design in Latin America. Federico Torres Americas South Leader, Arup
