Holcim Awards 2011 - Jury for Middle East Africa - Casablanca, Morocco
The Holcim Awards jury for region Africa Middle East met in Casablanca, Morocco in June 2011 to select projects using the “target issues” for sustainable construction (l-r): Javier de Benito, Hashim Sarkis (Head of Jury), Joe Osae-Addo, Abderrafih Lahbabi, Amer Moustafa, Hans-Rudolf Schalcher, Mphethi Morojele, Chrisna du Plessis and Holger Wallbaum.

The practice was also finalist in the continent-wide competition for a new Pan African Parliament in South Africa. The firm employs 20 people and collaborates with artists, urban planners, environmentalists and traditional healers towards transforming architecture in Africa.
Mphethi Morojele completed his Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Cape Town in 1990 and Master of Science in Architecture at the Bartlett in London in 1993. He has taught studios at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg and was curator of the South African exhibition Between Ownership and Belonging at the 2006 Venice Architecture Biennale.
