Shrashtant Patara has been an integral part of the Development Alternatives Group since 1988, providing research expertise, management capabilities, and strategic direction across various initiatives including Entrepreneurship Support Systems, Habitat, Renewable Energy, and Waste-to-Wealth projects.
His work emphasizes the development of new service delivery models, enterprise packages, and capacity-building measures. Key initiatives under his leadership aim to scale green economy solutions in renewable energy-based rural electrification, affordable housing, clean drinking water, and waste recycling.
Shrashtant Patara established several social businesses within the DA Group. He currently leads the Indian Micro Enterprises Development Foundation, a platform designed to deliver enterprise support services at scale, and “TARAurja,” a micro-utility business focused on renewable energy.
He is a Fellow of The Rockefeller Foundation’s Global Program on Social Innovation, a member of the Indo-German Expert Group on Green & Inclusive Economy, and has served as a jury member for the international SEED Awards for Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Development.
Shrashtant Patara holds a degree in architecture from the School of Planning & Architecture in New Delhi, India.
