Make an impressive statement

Tip #5 – LafargeHolcim Awards

  • 1 / 1

Stay focused to make an impressive statement on sustainability in the LafargeHolcim Awards competition.

The online entry form includes three texts to explain how your project contributes to sustainable construction. These relatively short texts need to be strongly focused to explain the benefits of your project to the independent regional jury. The statements should refer to the “target issues” for sustainable construction – stay fully-focused so your project stands out from the crowd.

There’s more detailed information in the “Step-by-step” guide (p.21) on how to complete the statements on sustainability. The texts will vary according to the type of project you are entering, as well as its construction status, location, context, and relative strengths. Each of the three statements may refer to the same “target issue”, to different “target issues”, or to a combination. Choose a format that best suits your submission. It’s a good idea to ensure the images and captions used in the submission also complement the main themes of the sustainability concept.

Each of the three statements on sustainability is a text field of up to 800 characters (including spaces), which is around 150 words. Make sure you’re familiar with the “target issues” for sustainable construction when preparing your statements – a good place to start is “Understanding sustainable construction” on the LafargeHolcim Foundation website ... but if you feel “lost for words” or have further questions, please contact the Helpdesk.
