Please don’t send us any physical printouts of your entry via post or courier. Only print a copy of your entry in the LafargeHolcimAwards if you wish to keep a physical copy for your own records.

We use the data submitted in the online entry form to generate display books of all entries for the independent regional juries. This allows us to present each submission in a standard layout. Creating the same standard layout for each submission gives each entry an equal opportunity to attract the attention of the jury.

At the end of Step 5 (Review) of the online entry form, all you need to do is click on “Submit”. You can make further changes to the entry after clicking “Submit” by returning to any step in the entry form. Registered participants are able to edit and complete their submission until the close of the competition on March 3, 2020 at 14:00 UTC.

The data you enter in the online entry form is used by us to generate a printed submission for each project on two A3 pages. At this size, the images in your submission are sized 127 mm x 96 mm (for the key images #1 & #2) and all further images sized 63 mm x 46 mm. We highly recommend using 4:3 ratio images – portrait format images or landscape images not in ratio 4:3 may be used, but they will not utilize the full image space available. You can see a previous jury (picture, left) looking at submissions in the printed books.

In addition, the jury receive all submissions as electronic (PDF) files and can zoom in on images. They may wish to look at some of the images in further detail – but this typically is for the shortlisted projects only. At the end of Step 5 in the online entry form, if you click on “Download PDF”, you will be able to see the layout of your submission. Check the Step-by-step Guide (p.32) for further details … but don’t let printing get you in a jam – if you have further questions, please contact the Helpdesk.

As the seventh tip, we’re half-way through our series of 14 short articles providing tips on entering the LafargeHolcim Awards competition. The 6th cycle of the international competition is open for entries until February 25, 2020 (14:00 UTC).

The Awards offer a total of USD 2 million in prize money and foreground projects and concepts from architecture, engineering, urban planning, materials and construction technology, and related fields.
