The Holcim Foundation is kicking off its 2025 Awards cycle, calling for client-supported projects of all scales in the late-stage design phase to be recognized from a global prize pool of USD 1M, which is split between 20 winning entries.
Holcim Foundation Awards

The Holcim Foundation Awards competition was created in 2004. Over 20 years, it has committed over USD 20M to spotlighting sustainable design projects.
The Awards, organized by the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction, focus on projects at a late design stage that are client-supported and commissioned for real-world execution.
Projects already under construction are eligible, provided construction is not completed before February 11, 2025.
The competition is free to enter, with entries judged across five regions of the world.
Words with Winners Campaign

The legacy of the Awards is impressive. Past winners include New York’s BIG U by Bjarke Ingels Group and One Architecture. Pritzker Prize-Winner Diébédo Francis Kéré (pictured at the top of the newsletter) received a Holcim Foundation Award early in his career, in 2012, for the design of a secondary school in Gando, Burkina Faso.
Meet our 2025 Jury Chairs

The Holcim Foundation Awards has appointed leading global architectural figures to chair the independent juries for the five regions the competition covers.
The expert juries for the Holcim Foundation Awards evaluate project submissions against a specific set of goals and principles for sustainable design. In total, there are four award winners per region, with one of these regional winners receiving a special recognition prize.
The chairs have the significant duty of presiding over five expert jury panels featuring architects, engineers, landscape architects, and urban planners to select 20 outstanding finalists for the Awards competition.
