Meet the 20 young professionals selected for our first Fellowship in Latin America

We are thrilled to announce the talented young professionals selected for the Holcim Foundation Fellowship in Latin America. This exciting event will take place in Mexico City, January 13-24, 2025.

Our cohort of Fellows will work with Gabriela Carrillo and José Amozurrutia, at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) to observe, analyze, question, propose and design interdisciplinary strategies for transforming the mechanisms that afflict the socio-environmental state of Latin American cities.

Fellows will also visit case study projects in Mexico City, meet practicing professionals, take part in presentations and learn about the innovative work of the four partner firms – JSa, Locus, Riparia and Taller Capital.

Meet our 2025 fellows for Latin America

Adriana Rodríguez | Mexican architect trained at Tecnológico de Monterrey, with studies in sustainable architecture and integrated water management. Co-founder of Holobionte: Urban Laboratory for Regeneration, her practice focuses on regenerative processes and community participation. She is a professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey and collaborates with Rozana Montiel Architecture Studio. | LinkedIn

Anagelly San Román | Mexican architect trained at UNAM. She has worked in studios such as Taller Héctor Barroso and Atelier Façade in Paris, while maintaining an active personal practice. Her team won the “Sabor Capital” contest and the ARPAFIL competition in 2023. Anagelly has international experience and has participated in exchanges and volunteering activities. She currently works at TO Studio in Mexico City. | Instagram

Andrés Restrepo | Architect-builder graduated in 2022 from the National University of Colombia. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Building Construction and a specialization in Artificial Intelligence. He has worked in civil engineering consulting firms and is a part-time professor at his university. His research focuses on the circular economy and sustainable construction, with an emphasis on building materials and evaluation, in addition to implementing computational tools in the sector. | Instagram | LinkedIn

Camila Audrey Ferrara | Architect and urban planner from the University of São Paulo, specializing in Social Project Management. She is the co-founder of CoCriança, an organization that uses participatory design to create playful and natural spaces. She has collaborated with Brazilian municipalities, and her work has been exhibited at the São Paulo International Architecture Biennale and the World Congress of Architects. | Instagram | LinkedIn

Carolina Pérez-Méndez | Puerto Rican architecture student, currently in her final year of the Master’s in Architecture at the University of Puerto Rico. Carolina has focused her research on resilient design to protect vulnerable communities from natural disasters, motivated by her personal experience with Hurricane María and the Puerto Rico earthquakes. | Instagram | LinkedIn

Daniel Blanco | Architect and visual artist with a degree from the University of the Andes, Colombia. His practice explores design as a form of thought, combining architecture, art, and education. Co-founder of the Autonomous Projects Editorial Cooperative (C.E.P.A.), he works on projects that connect people with their ecosystems through situated drawing, emotional mapping, and prototyping with local techniques. | Instagram | LinkedIn

David Soto | José David is a Civil Engineering student at Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia. His academic focus revolves around innovation and sustainability in construction, with experience in projects related to reducing the carbon footprint. He has developed skills in software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, and MS Project, and is seeking opportunities to further his expertise in sustainable project engineering. | Instagram | LinkedIn

Fernando Peraza | Venezuelan architect, graduated from Simón Bolívar University. His work focuses on the co-creation of inclusive and resilient spaces that promote social equity and the circular economy. He is interested in sustainable construction and the reuse of materials, exploring the role of architecture in mitigating climate change and promoting community coexistence. | Instagram | LinkedIn

Florencia Senise | Interior designer and architect, graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the National University of La Plata, Argentina. Currently, she is a researcher at CONICET, where she is pursuing a PhD. Throughout her career, she has worked on projects integrating design, construction, and research, with a strong focus on environmental and social issues. Her work in vulnerable communities has allowed her to approach problems from a collaborative and collective perspective. | Instagram | LinkedIn

Francis Pérez Marín | Architect graduated from Costa Rica University. Her work explores the relationships between communities and their environment, questioning the physical and social boundaries of the city. She is also involved in audiovisual production and photography, with an interest in participatory processes and the intersection of gender, the environment, and public space. | LinkedIn

Gabriela Peglow | Final-year student in Architecture and Urbanism at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). She has worked at the Urban Ecology Laboratory (LEUr) and the Municipal Office of Urban Planning and Intelligence of Florianópolis. Her projects focus on urban planning and flood mitigation using green infrastructure. She is currently leading the development of sectoral plans for each district of Florianópolis. | Instagram | LinkedIn

Karen Tapia | Architect and urbanist from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Urbanism at UNAM. She has worked at the Ministry of Housing of Peru on public space projects and has participated in the modification of national urban regulations. Additionally, she is president of Paisajes Educativos, an organization that carries out urban interventions focusing on nature and childhood. | Instagram | LinkedIn

Manuela Silva | Architect and artist, graduated from the University of the Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. She is currently working with the Cultural Infrastructure Group (GIC) at the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Knowledge of the National Government of Colombia. Her work focuses on designing libraries and cultural centers for rural municipalities, contributing to cultural and social development. | Instagram | LinkedIn

María Fernanda Heredia | Ecuadorian architect and experimental artist exploring memory and everyday life. Graduated from the Central University of Ecuador, she sees architecture as a space for debate and critical reflection. Her work focuses on the collective construction of spaces and the investigation of everyday practices. | Instagram

María Paula González | Colombian architect, recently graduated from the University of the Andes. Her interests include the environmental, political, and social impact of architecture, as well as its intersection with sociology and environmental sciences. María Paula is interested in participatory processes, the exploration of alternative materials, and writing as a tool for critical reflection.

Marines Otero | Peruvian architect, graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, with a master’s degree in Project Processes. Her work focuses on adaptability to climatic events, such as the El Niño Phenomenon, exploring socio-ecological systems. She is a partner at Arquitectos Colaboradores, where she reflects on technology and innovation in architecture. | Instagram | LinkedIn

Martín Diez Dojorti | Argentinian architect born in 1998. He began his studies at the National University of San Juan and continued at the National University of Córdoba. He has participated in international competitions and has worked at studios such as AFT Arquitectos and BIA Arquitectura. In 2024, he was selected for a double degree program at Università degli Studi di Salerno, Italy. His interests include ecosystem remediation, climate change adaptation, heritage preservation, and sustainable construction. | Instagram | LinkedIn

Melissa Espinoza | Melissa Espinoza is an architect from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), focusing on the relationship between urban landscapes and environmental crises. Her thesis explores waste management in urban contexts through the concept of “waste to energy.” She also has a particular interest in the intersection of architecture and art. | Instagram | LinkedIn

Sebastián Delgado | Sebastián Edson is an architect from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), where he received the Excellence Award in 2023. He currently collaborates with 51-1 Arquitectos and focuses on territorial planning, landscape architecture, and interdisciplinary studies. Thiago Costa | Brazilian lawyer and Architecture and Urbanism student, fascinated by the intersections between architecture, culture, and behavior.
